A century-old railway station in Beijing will be put out of service beginning November 1, 2016 due to the construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway, according to CCTV News.

The Qinghuayuan Railway Station, built in 1910, will be preserved as the station still retains some of its original features.

Many local residents from the neighboring communities have come and taken photos of the station. Some have even gone as far as buying a ticket as a keepsake.

Apart from the Qinghuayuan Station, the Beijing North Railway Station will suspend ticket sales beginning November 1, 2016 to coordinate with the construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway.

According to the Beijing Railway Administration, information of the affected trains and stations will be released to the public as early as possible to minimize any potential inconvenience caused by the changes.

The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway is expected to be finished in 2020 and serve the coming 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which will be co-hosted by Beijing and Zhangjiakou in north China's Hebei Province.

The train speed will be between 250 and 350 km/h, and the travel time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou, which are 170 kilometers apart, will take only 50 minutes.
