The high-end seminar on "New Quality Productive Forces and Digital Economy" was held at Xiamen University (XMU) on April 13. The New Quality Productive Forces Development Index was released at the event.
The conference focused on new quality productive forces and digital economy, with scholars from renowned domestic universities conducting in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as the theoretical connotations of new productivity, the development trends of the digital economy, and the interactive relationship between new quality productive forces and the digital economy.
In order to accurately and timely measure the development level of new quality productive forces and provide a reference for policymaking at all levels, the economics disciplines in XMU has calculated the New Quality Productive Forces Development Index.
Based on provincial-level data, the index integrates various data sources from the internet to comprehensively evaluate the technological development, digital transformation, and green economy indicators across various dimensions in 31 provincial-level administrative regions.
Prof Zhou Yinggang, dean of the School of Economics and head of the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics at XMU, expressed that this index represents an initial attempt in the research of new quality productive forces. Subsequent efforts will involve further deepening theoretical research, strengthening data collection and evaluation, and providing more scientific and accurate decision-making references to promote the development of new quality productive forces.
