Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality co-hosted the China Industrial Internet Summit Forum on May 18 with Baidu Inc, China's IT and AI giant.
The internet event was attended by Li Shun, a member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, Li Shuo and Xu Jing, vice-presidents of Baidu Inc, and Zhao Shengjie,?dean of Tongji University's School of Software Engineering.
In his address to the event, Li Shun highlighted the significant role the industrial internet is playing as a strategic force in the nation's development.
On behalf of the Liangjiang government, he said the new area will support the industry through five specific measures: forming a special serving team for the industry, launching a set of favorable policies to boost the digital economy, founding a government-enterprise alliance platform, creating an industrial internet park and encouraging more social and market resources to flow into the industry.
There were three main messages conveyed during the forum: research on the industrial internet has become increasingly mature; more companies have joined forces in promoting and applying the industrial internet; and the development trend of the industrial internet will receive widespread recognition.
Liangjiang New Area also pledged to facilitate the industry with six new cooperation models, including the organic combination between the market and finance, between assets and policies and between capital and equity.
Representing Baidu Inc, Li Shuo delivered a speech themed on how AI strengthens China's manufacturing sector. He stressed that mixing AI technology with multiple traditional industries will bring new connections, new data and new knowledge to the world, and will produce new business models and products.
Baidu AI Cloud, a brand developed by Baidu and devoted to AI-aided cloud computing, released its brand-new product during the forum. Called Kaiwu, the product is expected to provide traditional industries, such as manufacturing, energy and electricity with overall smart solutions based on its cutting-edge AI technology and the industrial internet.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
