Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality signed various project agreements with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) on Dec 1.
The projects are under the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity involving financing, construction services, engineering services, intelligent financial technology and human resource services.
SCCCI was established in 1906 and serves as the top leading department of Chinese merchants in Singapore. Currently, it has more than 160 chambers of commerce as members and about 5,000 company members.
It covers over 40,000 transnational corporations, government departments, large financial and commerce organizations, as well as enterprises, playing a pivotal role in promoting the development of commerce, education, culture and community inside and outside of Singapore.
The signing of the projects between Liangjiang and SCCCI marks a significant achievement of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.
As a core area for the initiative, Liangjiang has introduced vital projects from Singapore, promoted the construction of the China-Singapore Fintech Collaboration Demonstration Zone and prepared to establish a financial technology industrial park.
During the past five years, Liangjiang has signed 66 China-Singapore project cooperation agreements with a total contract volume of $11.64 billion, occupying one-third of Chongqing's total.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
