The Liangjiang New Area (LNA), the biggest automobile production base in China, produced 1.19 million vehicles in the first half of 2017, according to report released by the Liangjiang New Area Industry Bureau on Aug 24.
Automobile production saw a year-on-year increase of 14 percent with an output value of 143.6 billion yuan ($21.57 billion), according to the report.
Liangjiang introduced nine projects in the first half of the year with a total value of 1.76 billion yuan, including Chang'an Ford New Energy Battery, a drive system project of the US' Dana Holding Corporation and Japan's Denso automobile air conditioning units.
It is expected to achieve an annual production value of 3.8 billion yuan from these projects. Some 11 projects have begun construction and 12 others have been put into operation at an output value of about 216 billion yuan.
Chang'an Automobile Co Ltd started construction on a global R&D center in Liangjiang's Yufu Industrial Park on April 13, German tech company Continental began the construction of a research facility in LNA on June 8 and Beijing Hyundai Motor Co officially opened its new factory in the Yufu Industrial Development Zone on July 19.
Liangjiang New Area currently has seven automobile companies and has produced 3.7 million automobiles, 1 million gearboxes, 4.5 million engines and an achieved an output value of 500 billion yuan.
