Liangjiang Avenue, which connects the Longxing and Yufu industrial development zones, and Yuefu Avenue, which connects the Shuitu Technology Development Zone with the Yuelai Expo, are open to traffic in Liangjiang New Area as of June 19.
The 22-kilometer North-South Liangjiang Avenue is the central axis of Liangjiang New Area’s Longsheng Planning Area. The avenue unites the area with eight lanes and a speed limit of 60 km/h.
It stretches from East Yuzui Road south of the Chongqing-Yibin Expressway to Longshi Road north of the Longsheng Planning Area, thus connecting the towns of Yuzui, Longxing and Shichuan and assuring a connection between the Longsheng and Yufu industrial development zones.
Officials from Liangjiang New Area said these road openings will boost economic growth in the Longxing and Yufu industrial development zones and attract more enterprises to the area. These two zones will also connect with Guoyuan Port, the biggest logistic port of China’s inland rivers. This is an opportunity for Liangjiang New Area to integrate into the Yangtze River Economic Zone.
Yuefu Avenue is 47 meters wide and 7.35 kilometers long, stretching from Wanbao Avenue in the Liangjiang New Area’s Shuitu Technology Zone to Qingxihe Bridge. Total investment in the avenue reached 830 million yuan ($133.7 million).
At present, Shuitu Technology Zone has attracted 62 high-tech enterprises and research institutions, such as the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, BOC and Laibao High-tech. Yuefu Avenue’s positioning facilitates the development of high-tech industrial clusters in Liangjiang New Area, including IT, big data, cloud computing, robot manufacturing and medical manufacturing.
The large-scale infrastructure of Liangjiang New Area is nearly complete. Over the past four years, 140 billion yuan has been invested in this construction. The airport, railways and ports that are crucial to the long-term development of Liangjiang New Area, as well as its bridges, water, power, telecommunication capacities and pollution control are almost finished.
