Singapore Airlines opens new flight between Singapore, Xiamen
Singapore Airlines launched direct passenger flight SQ869 between Singapore and the coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province on Oct 27. The passenger flight will operate every Thursday.
The launching of the new flight shows that Singapore Airlines had finished its business layout in China. The company has expanded its business scope to seven cities on the Chinese mainland, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu and Xiamen, according to Liang Xueying, manager of Singapore Airlines in Fujian.
Huang Wenjie, general manager of Singapore Airlines China, said the new flight will provide more choices for passengers from Xiamen and cities in Southeast China with necessary travel needs such as business and study, and also provide passengers with more consistent high-end products and services.
Xiamen and Singapore are located close to each other. Xiamen is an important land-sea hub city of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and Singapore is an important participant in the BRI. Both sides are expected to deepen cooperation under the framework of connectivity, aiming to build a bridge of communication over the air.
