To activate public’s enthusiasm for cultural festivals

The fifth Shengyue Peony Tourism Festival attracted numerous tourists upon its unveiling on May 28. On June 1, the peony flowers bloomed in Dananshan Ecological and Cultural Tourism Park in Horinger county, presenting a great opportunity for tourists to linger among the beauty.

On July 18, the eighth China National Commodity Fair was held in the Inner Mongolia International Conference and Exhibition Center. About 520,000 visitors from all around the world were attracted by the novelty products.

On July 25, the 25th Nadam Tourism Festival kicked off to the melodious sound of matouqin in Inner Mongolia. A number of folk activities and competitions were held every day for joint appreciation and participation by both herdsmen and tourists.

From July to September, the China Hohhot Zhaojun Cultural Festival witnessed its magnificent opening. Wang Zhaojun was born in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-8 AD) and was sent to Emperor Yuan to marry the Xiongnu Chanyu in order to establish peaceful relations with the Han Dynasty through marriage. The festival, which originated from folk temple fairs, has now been developed into a cultural feast that attracts tourists from different places based on more than 15 years of development and innovation.

To popularize resources of distinctive features

A group of festivals and celebrations have helped popularize local distinctive resources. On the evening of July 3, 2014, the China Hetao Cultural Festival raised its curtain.

Bater, chairman of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, highly praised the festivals and celebrations, including the Hetao Cultural & Arts Festival and Hetao Culture Seminar.

The Hetao Culture Seminar attracts the participation of officials from the state cultural relics bureau and autonomous region, officials from UNESCO, and rock painting experts from China and around the world every year.

The academic community has reached a consensus on Hetao culture, which is defined as "a cultural system showing the collision and blending of farming civilization and nomadic civilization." In particular, the Yinshan rock paintings that recorded history over tens of thousands of years have been considered as the channel for dialogues between China and the world.

In March 2010, Bayannur officially declared the application for listing as a world cultural heritage for the Yinshan rock paintings. On November 17, 2012, the Yinshan rock paintings were officially listed into the Preparatory Directory for World Cultural Heritages of China. On June 29, 2013, the Chinese Society of Rock Paintings was set up, dedicated to the protection of rock paintings in China and the rest of the world, as well as academic research and promotion.
