Brothers assail their fellow shareholder, using gasoline as weapon in attack

JINGZHOU, Hubei - One person died and another was injured when a bus was set on fire in Jingzhou city in Central China's Hubei province on Friday morning, said local authorities.

According to Jingzhou's public security bureau, the fire was set on a No 168 bus in front of the Yangtze University College of Arts and Science around 9 am.

A 48-year-old man named Jiang Chengwei, who was identified by DNA testing, was burned to death. The bus conductor, Shang Chunmei, 39, had burn wounds and was rushed to the Jingzhou No 3 People's Hospital.

The bus was extensively damaged and the shelter at the bus stop and two motorcycles were also burned.

Police have confirmed that Jiang set the fire. They said his act was a result of a conflict over the stocks in the bus company.

Jiang's brother and Shang, together with another person surnamed Wu, all shareholders in the company, got in a fight on Thursday, and Jiang's brother was injured.

On Friday morning, the brothers followed the bus, on which Shang sells tickets, police said. When it stopped at a bus stop, Jiang got in, poured gasoline on it and lit the fire.

Shang was able to extinguish the flames on her body and escaped, but Jiang could not get out, police said.

His brother has been placed under police custody, authorities said.

Yan Xun, a doctor in the Jingzhou No 3 People's Hospital, told China Daily that Shang suffered minor burns and was still being treated.
