China-Eurasia expo builds ties among Belt and Road nations

By Xu Wei in Urumqi (China Daily USA) Updated: 2016-10-07 10:12

Muhammad Abbas has taken part in each of the past five China-Eurasia Expos, while his business has grown from a small shop to a company with a brand name during this time.

"I first started with a small shop in Kashgar. But gradually, I just moved forward. It was a good journey, and a successful one for the business," the Pakistani national said at the fifth China-Eurasia Expo, which was held in Urumqi, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, from Sept 20 to 25.

However, Abbas' business revenue had been growing until last year, when the jewelry market was hit by sluggish demand.

"There are ups and downs in every business. I hope it will again pick up," he said.

Meanwhile, he hopes that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will also provide easy access to the world market for Chinese products, and ultimately benefit his business.

Abbas is just one of the thousands of exhibitors from 57 countries who took part in this year's expo.
