China is making efforts to strengthen judicial protection of intellectual property and international cooperation in the area, said Tao Kaiyuan, chief justice and vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC).

A delegation led by Tao attended the first Intellectual Property Judges Forum from Nov 6 to 11 in Geneva, discussing judicial issues on increasing international exchanges for IPR protection with judges from other countries.

The delegation also visited Francis Gurry, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization. Tao explained China's reform of litigation and trial mechanisms in IP cases, which Gurry commended.

The forum is intended to provide a platform for global judges to share their views and exchange expertise on international intellectual property challenges.

More than 100 judges from over 60 countries participated in the event.
