Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), welcomed a group led by Ankie Broekers-Knol, president of the Senate of the Netherlands.

Zhou welcomed the Dutch delegation and briefed it on judicial construction and reform in China.

"China is implementing the rule of law in a comprehensive way," said Zhou. "Judicial reform is being carried out in a positive and orderly manner to accelerate the construction of a socialist country built on the rule of law."

"This new round of judicial reform is unprecedented in strength, depth and width and the impact will be long-lasting," said Zhou.

Courts of various levels in China are expanding judicial openness, and have built four platforms, including an open trial process site, an open trial site, an open judgment document site, and an open executive information site, Zhou said.

China is building "Smart Courts" to promote the trial system and modernize judgment capability, he added.

China and the Netherlands are enjoying good momentum in their relationship based on open, pragmatic and comprehensive cooperation, said the court head.

The SPC is willing to work closely with the legal authorities in the Netherlands and improve the rule of law in the global community.

Ankie Broekers-Knol echoed Zhou as she exchanged ideas on judicial reform and court information construction.

She expressed her hope to upgrade the relationship between the two countries and deepen their cooperation and communication in the legal field.
