Zhou Qiang, president of China’s top court, has paid an inspection visit to Jiangsu province, emphasizing the importance of building a qualified team and further promoting judicial reform and enforcement of court judgments.

On the afternoon of May 2, Zhou visited the Suzhou Industrial Park People’s Court to gain an overview of the progress of litigation services.

Speaking highly of the achievements made by local courts, Zhou said that promoting judgment enforcement is the basis of securing the legitimate interest of the people.

Experience should be carefully studied to break the barrier of social injustice, Zhou said, adding that in order to contribute to social and economic development the battle should be won in no more than two to three years.

On the afternoon of May 5, Zhou inspected the Nanjing Intermediate People's Court where he spoke highly of the lawyer online service platform, which makes judicial practices much more effective and efficient.

“A good legal environment is the reflection of core economic competitiveness,” Zhou said, “in order to support innovation, we must strictly implement the law in a fair manner, and further promote judicial services and security.”

During the inspection tour, Zhou also went to the Jiangsu-based cooperative center under the State Intellectual Property Office, and the Second Historical Archives of China.

Zhou attended a two-day conference between the heads of several supreme courts from China and European countries in Suzhou of Jiangsu province on May 5.

An eight-point “Suzhou Consensus” was reached at the conference of presidents of the supreme courts of China and central and eastern European countries.
