By Zhang Yi (China Daily) Updated : 2016-03-05

A senior legislative official has been placed under investigation on suspicion of corruption, the country's top anti-graft authority announced on Friday ahead of the annual meeting of the 12th National People's Congress.

Wang Min, 66, vice-chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee of the 12th National People's Congress, was alleged to have "seriously violated Party discipline" - a phrase commonly used in reference to corruption - the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said.

No details of the allegation were available as of press time.

Wang Min was Party chief of Liaoning province from 2009 to 2015, and he held the same position in Jilin province from 2006 to 2009. He also held senior positions in Jiangsu province.

"No one is immune to disciplinary investigation or court trials for corruption, including the deputies of the people's congresses at all levels", Fu Ying, spokeswoman for the fourth session of the 12th National People's Congress, said on Friday when asked to comment on Wang's case.
