From Dec 16-17, SPC President Zhou Qiang made an investigative tour to East China’s Shandong province, during which he called on court authorities to do their utmost to build China into a well-off society.

The Qingdao Maritime Court of Shandong has achieved significant results in promoting construction of the Blue Economic Zone in the Shandong Peninsula. Zhou praised the court’s efforts and said that maritime courts nationwide should keep assembling teams of professional judges to provide support to the development of the maritime economy.

Zhou also visited the Qingdao Intermediate People’s Court, and met with Mou Naigui, a National Model Judge, and Nie Caifeng, a national level model worker.

Zhou said that Qingdao, a vigorous and beautiful city in Shandong, has been striving to build itself into a comfortable, international metropolis. He called on local people’s courts to shoulder their responsibilities to ensure social stability and promote fairness and justice.

Zhou also exchanged ideas with Kong Jiao, a local lawyer. Kong said it’s a good practice for lawyers to be involved in resolving grassroot complaints. Zhou said that such practices are a good method for providing legal services to the people, and urged courts to improve their capabilities in this area.

The Donggang District People’s Court of Rizhao City has made judicial services more convenient through informatization. Litigants can refer to the files through their IDs, and download legal documents through QR codes. Zhou praised these efforts, urging the court to move ahead with them to offer further convenience to the people.

Zhou said that courts in Shandong have been leading the nation in certain areas, and urged them to continue to do so.

The investigative tour was also attended by He Rong, vice-president of the SPC, and Li Qun, Party Secretary of Qingdao.
