Researchers from the Institute of Biotechnology at Shanxi University (SXU) recently published their findings in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a weekly peer-reviewed scientific journal by the American Chemical Society.
The research article, entitled Inhibitory Effects of Peroxidase from Foxtail Millet Bran on Colitis-Associated Colorectal Carcinogenesis by the Blockade of Glycerophospholipid Metabolism, clarified the anti-colorectal cancer potential of peroxidasefrom foxtail millet bran from the perspective of tumor metabolisms.
The publication, with Shan Shuhua and Wu Caihong as first authors, showcased the latest research achievements by the team, which is led by professor Li Zhuoyu at the institute.
The team?has been committed to research on the prevention and control effects of grain functional molecules on chronic diseases, such as tumors and atherosclerosis, over the last few decades.
SXU officials said the findings will help the comprehensive development and utilization of millet resources.
They will also increase the added value and economic benefits of agricultural and sideline products and boost modern biological and health industrial development in Shanxi province, which is rich in grain resources.
