SXU instructor's musical shines at NCPA
Updated : 2017-12-15
A musical created and directed by Huang Jianxin, an instructor from Shanxi University (SXU), was performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing from Dec 2 to 3.
The musical was inspired by a Chinese poem, and, combined with traditional customs in Shanxi, tells the story with strong sentiments in terms of life and death. It is also a cross-cultural work with stage designers, dress designers and composers from the UK contributing to the project.
Huang delivered a lecture concerning the comparison of body movements of eastern and western dancing at the NCPA before the performance. He also discussed improvisation and creation with dancing enthusiasts.
