The Datong officials met with a Swedish tourism delegation, in the city of Yanggao, Shanxi province, on Sept 6, to discuss further communication and cooperation for the development of both parties.
Datong's deputy Party secretary and mayor, Li Junming, who received the delegation, led by Sweden's Tourism Bureau head, Jean Leighton, said that Datong welcomes entrepreneurs and tourists from all over the world for a visit or to invest. Li went on to say he hopes Leighton can help promote Datong by introducing international events and conferences to the city to give it global exposure.
Leighton showed his affection for the city, which is known as an energy city and haven of longevity. The two expressed an interest in cooperating in tourism, new energy projects, culture, and sports to establish a long-term partnership, with winning results.
Leighton along his delegation were also invited to take part in the 7th World Health Maintenance Assembly, in Yanggao city, on Sept 6.
Datong is one of nine early capitals of ancient China and is known for its cultural heritage and Yungang Grottoes, while Sweden has many resources and islands that make it a popular tourist destination.
