Terry Tai-Ming Guo, sometimes written as Terry Guo, was born on Oct 8, 1950 in Banqiao township, Taipei county. His parents lived in Shanxi province in the Chinese mainland before they fled to Taiwan in 1949.

Guo is a tycoon who leads Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn), a company that manufactures electronics on contract for other companies. It is the largest electronics manufacturing services company in the world. It has factories across the globe, and its predominant operations in mainland China employ 800,000 people.

Guo started working at the Fuxing Shipping Company in 1971. He later founded the Foxconn Plastic Company to produce plastic parts for black and white televisions in 1974. The "Foxconn" trademark was registered in 1985.

In 1988, he started a company with roughly one hundred workers and developed it into the Foxconn Longhua base. By the end of 2007, Foxconn had more than 13 bases nationwide. In 2001, he was the 198th richest person in the world as ranked in Forbes and received the "Stars of Asia" award from BusinessWeek.
