China Dragon Boat Competition to be held in May

From May 2 to 5, the 2012 China Dragon Boat Competition will be held at the Poyanghu National Wetland Park, Shangrao of Jiangxi province. The winners of this competition receive 400 thousand yuan ($63,440). CCTV sports channel will live broadcast the whole competition.

The China Dragon Boat Competition is the top dragon boat competition in the country with the highest athletic level and the highest bonus for winners. The competition is divided into a men's and women's 220 meters and 500 meters straightway race with 22 people.

The total bonus for the competition amounts to 400 thousand yuan, of which the men's champion, runner-up and second runner-up will receive a bonus of 80,000 yuan, 60,000 yuan and 40,000 yuan respectively. The women's champion, second winner and third winner will be awarded 40,000 yuan, 20,000 yuan and 10,000 yuan respectively. The seventh to the twelfth winner for men’s competition will have a consolation prize of 8,000 yuan.

Jiangxi province will hold the fourth national fitness sports meeting and the first Jiangxi dragon boat competition from April 28 to 29 to prepare for the race.

When the competition is completed, Poyang county will hold an introduction meeting to Poyang county's investment environment. Large enterprises at home and abroad will be invited to the meeting and will be welcomed to invest in Poyang county, especially in areas like industry, trade and tourism.

From May 6 to 7, 2012, the Poyanghu ecological fishery products exhibition will also be held in the county. It will display fishery products such as fishing vessels, fishery machinery, fishing tackles, netting gear and net cages.
