The city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has now a society for cultural industry. According to a report by the Wuxi Daily, Wuxi city set up the cultural industry society on Jan 28.

As the first city-level cultural industry society in the country, it will not only be an organization composed of local cultural experts, but also serve as a platform for introducing professionals and facilitating exchange in the field.

The city has laid a solid foundation for the development of cultural industry in the past few years. Since 2012, it has allocated 100 million yuan ($16 million) every year to support the cultural enterprises and create a sound environment for the industrial development.

Though local cultural enterprises have made some achievement in the fields of film and television, design and arts, there are no listed companies or well-known brands pertaining to cultural industry in the city so far.

The society will launch a forum to invite experts to set a development path for the cultural industry in second and third-tier cities. It will also offer assistance for start-up companies.
