Updated: 2016-10-14

Inner Mongolia has invested over 70 million yuan ($10.4 million), granted from China’s central government and regional finance bureau, into the improvement of the rural environment this year.

For the investment, around 55.03 million yuan was subsidized by China’s central government, ascribed to a national policy related to energy conservation and emission reduction, and 15 million yuan was allotted from the Finance Bureau of Inner Mongolia.

The funds will be used to reduce household waste, treat industrial sewage, protect headwaters, and alleviate many other problems concerning environmental pollution.

Across the region, around 14 banners and counties have been chosen as the target pilot zone for practicing the project, and each of them will receive up to 5 million yuan, mainly used for the building of garbage stations or the purchase of rubbish bins and refuse transfer trucks, according to the local environmental protection department.

After the implement of this project, more than 206 villages and 413,000 farmers and herdsmen are expected to reap the benefits. Also, a series of environmental problems, such as randomly dumping waste and delayed garbage disposal, could be solved by taking these steps.
