Vegetable train opens between Inner Mongolia, Moscow

A through train carrying fruits and vegetables set of for Moscow, Russia on Nov 24 from Inner Mongolia.

After the inspection and quarantine at Manzhouli port, the largest land port of China, the refrigerated train headed straight to Moscow.

The cargo of 80 tons of oranges, 20 tons of apples, 10 tons of pears and 40 tons of garlic, will enter Moscow market directly and is an important step for China’s exports to European Russia, said Rong Zibin, head of Manzhouli entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau. More fruits and vegetables?are expected to export to Russia via Trans-Siberian Railway.

A majority of fruits and vegetables in Russia relies on imports during its long winters. China is?one of its main sources of these imports.
