The 2014 China International Silicon Conference & Photovoltaic Technology Expo was held in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region’s Hohhot on Sept 3.
The autonomous region has given great impetus to the photovoltaic industry and formed a solid industrial base.
To date, there were five photovoltaic industry parks in the region, located in Hohhot, Baotou, Erdos, Bayannur and Alashan Economic Development Zone. The production capacity of polycrystalline silicon has reached 22,000 tons, with monocrystalline silicon reaching 16,000 tons.
According to the region’s plan, based on the industrial basis created by existing photovoltaic enterprises and industrial parks, the region will construct a competent photovoltaic industrial cluster by taking the photovoltaic industry’s comparative advantages into full play. The region will work to achieve the output of polycrystalline silicon to 100,000 tons and monocrystalline silicon to 40,000 tons, in addition to 10 GW of solar cell and sub-units by 2020. The total output value of the photovoltaic industry in the region will be 100 billion yuan ($16.3 billion) by then.
The China International Silicon Conference & Photovoltaic Technology Expo is an annual branded event in the international silicon information technology industry. It is also a top event in China in regards to level, scale and attendees. This year’s expo was held surrounding how to optimize the silicon industrial structure and promote the silicon industry’s technological development, expand the down-stream industries of silicon, and achieve the harmonious development of silicon and photovoltaic industries.
