Manzhouli port ships out $ 270 million worth of agricultural products

Updated: 2014-01-23

Manzhouli customs authorities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region said that Manzhouli port handled $ 270 million worth of exported agricultural products in 2013, a year on year increase of 12.5 percent, just below its record in 2011.

The export value of agricultural products increased steadily during the past year - except for very small declines in February and March due to the Spring Festival. The export value soared in the second half year, achieving record highs in November and December with growths of 27.9 percent and 28 percent, respectively. All the agricultural products exported from Manzhouli port were shipped to Russia, and they mainly concerned fruits, vegetables and feed additives.

Manzhouli Customs implemented several measures – and carried out various initiatives - to promote the export of agricultural products in 2013, including visiting export enterprises to increase their understanding of the exporters’ requirements and provide a suitable service. The customs authorities also strengthened the reform of their clearance procedures so as to offer reputable companies a more efficient service.

Manzhouli Customs has also aimed to address issues regarding unfavorable factors affecting exports of agricultural products in 2013, which were caused by increased production and export costs, trade barriers in inspection and quarantine, technological standards, verification procedures and import quotas.

The officials focused on the agricultural products export industry and carried out industrial development plans and preferential policies to promote the industry’s development.

They also organized various agricultural export exhibitions and promotional events to attract Chinese and foreign businesses.

In addition, Manzhouli Customs officials established a system which allows exporters to receive up-to-date information concerning the technological standards, inspection and quarantine regulations and laws of the country of destination.
