A government delegation led by Zhanjiang Mayor Wang Zhongbing attended the first of three promotional events in Northeast China on Feb 23. The officials' visit was part of a wider vision of attracting more?potential visitors to the South China's coastal city in Guangdong province.
Wang's first port of call was to attend an interview in Changchun organized by the Jilin correspondents of media outlet Sina. Wang is scheduled to host the events in Changchun, Harbin and Tsitsihar in the coming days.
During the interview, Wang introduced a dozen features of Zhanjiang, including the improved medical care system, savory taste of sea food and the hospitality of Zhanjiang people. He highlighted the cozy weather and fresh air of the city as he invited people in Northeast China to spend their holidays in the southern city, especially in winter.
The Zhanjiang government will strengthen its efforts in cooperation with Changchun and will establish a liaison office in Changchun's tourism administration, in a bid to provide a platform and solve problems for tourists of the two cities, said Wang in the interview.
With the help of Internet Plus strategy, the coastal city will continue to integrate its tourist resources to provide more quality services for tourists, including online booking services of hotels, restaurants, tickets of tourist attractions and transportation.
Located in the southernmost part of Chinese mainland, Zhanjiang features abundant sea resources, a pristine ecological environment and a strong tourism sector. The city government attaches great importance to the development of tourism and aims to develop it into a popular winter resort.
