Research Report, No.81, 2021 (Total 6146) 2021-4-7

Abstract: Research findings made by DRC research team on Survey on People’s Livelihood show that rural living environment has achieved remarkable progress, but there are still some issues to be addressed. For instance, the classification and reduction of rural waste treatment capacity is still inadequate, the collection and treatment rate of domestic sewage and the popularity of harmless and sanitary toilets are still low, most of the toilet renovations remain to be improved to solve the problem of manure treatment, and the funds for the operation and maintenance of domestic waste and sewage treatment are in short supply. Besides, the elbow room and facilities for public activities cannot meet the demands of rich farmers, the environmental sanitation and traffic infrastructure in the villages still need to be refined, and some villages have not gained access to safe and affordable drinking water. The implementation of the action plan for rural construction needs to focus on farmers’ needs, rationally use abandoned homesteads to expand the space for public activities in villages, increase financial input for rural waste, sewage and manure treatment, and strengthen the construction of facilities relating to roads, drinking water and lighting in the villages.
