Research Report, No.312, 2020 (Total 6056) 2020-12-28

Abstract: Based on a study of President Biden’s team, this paper sorts out some key issues on which China and the U.S. could cooperate with each other in bilateral and global affairs in the next four years. In response to COVID-19 pandemic, the dialogue and communication mechanism needs to be re-established to strengthen information and experience sharing, promote cooperation on pandemic prevention materials and vaccines, and jointly improve the global public health system. In addressing climate change, China and the U.S. need to seek greater scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges on clean energy, jointly press ahead with the implementation of the Paris Agreement, and formulate trade rules conducive to addressing climate change. In the fields of business and finance, the two countries need to continue to advance the economic and trade negotiations, strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination, consolidate financial regulatory cooperation and restart negotiations on a bilateral investment agreement. In the Internet field, it is necessary to enhance the policy coordination of Internet governance and push on the formulation of tax policies for digital trade. In the field of cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the two countries need to encourage their exchanges and cooperation in the field of women and children affairs, carry out youth programs, and expand the communication channel for multiple entities.
