China Needs to Upgrade the Mobile Communications System for High-speed Railway Intelligence (No. 67, 2020)

Abstract: China’s high-speed railway has fully entered the era of intelligence, which demands better mobile communications support capabilities for high-speed railway. At present, with the constant advancement of mobile communications system for China’s high-speed railway, a number of high-quality scientific research achievements have been made in the field of key and core technologies. However, as research institutions, enterprises and railway departments have not yet formed an effective integration and innovation system, this results in the lack of trial and demonstration opportunities for the mobile communications technology of high-speed railway and failing to form a mobile communications technology line fitting the operation characteristics of China’s high-speed railway, as well as difficulty in attracting continuous public capital investment. For the next step, we need to innovate and improve the system and mechanism and create a highly open, inclusive and innovative industrial ecology in mobile communications technology for high-speed railway. We also need to give demonstration and trial opportunities to core technologies that have proprietary intellectual property rights and are competitive in international market, and promote constant optimization and upgrading of technologies in this field. We need to carry out planning and deployment of high-speed rail digitalization from a strategic perspective, focus on the development and application of advanced measurement and control sensor technology, perfect the intelligent monitoring system, and comprehensively scale up digitalization of high-speed railway.
