Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Steven Liu discovered his love of cooking at the tender age of 16. He credits his mother, a highly adept household cook and his father, an international cruise line captain and baker for introducing him to the wonders and of food.

From his talent perspective, in spring 2011, Steven has been appointed as the Executive Sous Chef of Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai’s newly restored grand icon.

"I’m proud to be enrolled by China’s most celebrated and legendary property. With Fairmont Peace Hotel, I have the chance to use my Oriental Spirit as a native, and twist, blend and infuse with the West Natural - just like how this roaring port city of frantic energy and opportunity became a mega city in the Far East in the 19th century," says Steven at his new home.

In 2013, Steven is appointed as Fairmont Culinary Brand Ambassador, China to support the awareness of the Brand and property in China. In this role, Steven is fully involved in on-property culinary events and Fairmont brand sponsorship events.
