British artist Hock Aun Teh is showing 65 abstract oil paintings featuring a vibrant palette and passionate strokes, at his solo exhibition titled Mad Roots at Beijing's World Art Museum, inside the China Millennium Monument.

Born and raised in Malaysia, Teh draws on childhood experiences of being interested in plants and insects in the forest near home. He also finds inspiration in the tree roots that twisted and spread madly all over the soil.

With Chinese origin from Fujian province, he also explores in creation the cultural roots of his ancestry, traveling to China every year.

Teh graduated from the Glasgow School of Art and since then has been living in the Scottish capital.

Teh's exhibition runs through June 26.
