Facilitators’ network supports countries to implement the Convention
Facilitators' network ? UNESCO

UNESCO’s facilitators are central to the success of its global capacity-building programme. Since the creation of the network in 2011, UNESCO’s facilitators have provided training and advisory services in more than 100 countries and delivered more than 250 workshops around the world.

A roundtable side event is being organized in the context of the thirteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage to hear first-hand from facilitators about their experience as members of the network and how their work can support States Parties to implement the Convention.

Over the years, the role of facilitators has evolved from delivering capacity-building workshops to also providing policy support, assistance with project development and advice on a range of topics. Their wealth of experience makes them a valuable player for implementing the Convention and an important resource for countries to support them in safeguarding their living heritage.

The roundtable side event “The global facilitators’ network: How can it support countries to implement the Convention” will be held on Tuesday 27 November from 1:15 to 2:30 pm in the Kestrel Room at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Port Louis, Republic of Mauritius. All participants at the Committee session are welcome to attend. For further information on UNESCO’s global network of facilitators, please visit our dedicated webpage.
