Local legislatures in Gansu and Shandong provinces appointed two acting governors on Tuesday.

Tang Renjian was appointed deputy governor and acting governor of Gansu province. The decision was made at a session of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial People's Congress. Lin Duo, the former governor, was promoted to Party chief of Gansu on April 1.

Tang, 54, was deputy director of the central Rural Work Leading Group before moving to work in Gansu earlier this month.

Tang is also currently deputy secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.

On the same day, the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress named Gong Zheng deputy governor and acting governor of the province.

Gong, 57, had rich working experience with China's General Administration of Customs before being appointed vice-governor of Zhejiang province in 2008. He was named deputy Party chief of Shandong in August 2015.

Gong's predecessor, Guo Shuqing, was appointed chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission in February.

On the central government level, the State Council, China's Cabinet, also announced the appointment of several senior officials on Tuesday.

Li Baorong was named deputy secretary-general of the State Council, and Peng Jiarui was appointed commander of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a specialized paramilitary organization in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
