BEIJING - The Supreme People's Court (SPC) has opened its official online petition reception platform in a bid to make civilians' petition procedures more convenient.

Figures released Friday show that the SPP receives an average of 60,000 to 70,000 petitioners each year, and about 60 percent are repeated visitors.

According to the statement, the online platform at the SPP's official website (court.gov.cn) will mainly deal with cases where involved parties are not persuaded by court rulings following their appeals and requests to speed up execution of sentences.

Petitioners need only to register at the website to submit a request, and the progress of their requests will be available for checking at any time.

Previously, petitioners could only resort to the mail or personal visits.

"Online progress checks will promote procedural justice," the statement said.
