More than 10 artists from China and Australia have been working on-site in shifts to create artworks of their own choice on long scrolls.

Leading Chinese painter Li Xiaoke started by drawing a beautiful stupa decorated with waving Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags, probably the most noticeable thing that tourists can find anywhere in Tibet.

Li's artwork was later supplemented by Sun Mingcai, a painter now based in Australia, and Le Zhenwen, a painter from Shanghai, to provide the snow-covered mountains as the backdrop.

Zhou Xioaqun, former president of the Shanghai City Calligraphers Association (SCCA), and Liu Xiaoqing, an advisor to SCCA, were among Chinese calligraphy masters to collaborate with their Australian counterparts in presenting the traditional Chinese art form in diverse styles.

Their works were concluded by a magnificent Tibetan yak by painter Nyima Tsering, who was born in Tibetan areas in southwest China's Sichuan province, and greetings hand-written in the Tibetan language by a cultural official from the Tibet autonomous region.

Nyima Tsering said artists could work together to create a perfect painting of Tibet although they were not familiar with each other before and have different art styles.

"The tranquility and harmony displayed in the final cooperative painting shows peace is deeply in our heart."
