Certification institution to help Chinese enterprises go global

By Wanyan Wenhao (chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2015-05-04 14:12

TüV SüD, a leading third-party certification institution, relocated its Beijing office to a more spacious and comfortable site in Wangjing Ring Road, Chaoyang district, on April 28, to meet the needs of its growing businesses in China.

TüV SüD has operated in China for more than 24 years and has partnered with more than 20,000 local manufacturers and institutions by providing companies with an in-depth understanding of global new-energy industry trends.

The German institution has dedicated itself to helping Chinese companies step out and expand their businesses abroad.

The new-energy industry has experienced high-speed development since China entered the "new normal" stage, a slower but more sustainable style of economic growth. Chinese enterprises responded to a national call for the development of renewable energy industries.

More and more Chinese new-energy companies are stepping out and expanding their businesses in the global market. This is expected to stimulate a huge demand for quality testing and certification, as the companies going overseas have to adapt to local requirements and different standards.

In 2014, China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co Ltd won the tender for Ethiopia's GDHA 500KV transmission line project, which is the main part of the national grid system in Ethiopia.

Although the project involved more than 40 main suppliers and more than 25 categories of main equipment, its lifecycle was just a year. TüV SüD provided QA/QC services to help CET ensure product quality of all equipment and meet the single year lifecycle requirement.

Apart from some State-owned companies like CET, some small- and mid-sized Chinese new-energy companies face challenges with technological demands and international technical barriers when they tap into overseas markets, said Dirk von Wahl, CEO and president of TüV SüD Greater China.
