Employment remained relatively stable and social security benefits further expanded in the Tibet autonomous region through last year, the regional human resources and social security department said on Friday.

In 2013, the employment figure in urban areas grew to 28,000, and the registered unemployment rate in cities stayed within 2.5 percent, the regional human resources department said.

"A total of 14,000 more college graduates found jobs, ensuring all new college graduates in the region found full-time employment, and most graduates of past years were employed," said Ma Xiangcun, director of the region's human resources and social security department.

A total of 5,239 jobs were provided in the region by provinces nationwide and central government-owned companies and more than 1,500 graduates from Tibetan ethnic groups found jobs in other provinces, up 15.38 percent year-on-year, Ma said.

"The number of public positions increased to 7,000, rural labor moves grew to 450,000 people and the labor income rose to 1.9 billion yuan ($312 million)," Ma said.

Over the year, more than 600 skills training courses were conducted, more than 30,000 laborers were trained, 25,000 laborers found new jobs and the employment rate of those who completed training reached 80 percent, according to the department.

The department also said more than 2.48 million people enrolled for social security in 2013.

The average monthly social security pension for new rural residents was raised to 105 yuan, while the average financial aid for medical insurance reached 300 yuan per capita, according to the department.
