According to the Administration for Industry and Commerce of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in Northeast China, 81 cookware specifications of the well-known brand Supor are under-qualified, CCTV reported on February 16.
The under-qualified products include Supor's soup pan, steamer, milk pan and kettle. All of them are Supor's low-end products.
According to China's newly established stainless steel product standard, the steel Supor uses does not qualify under new regulations. The manganese content of its steel cooker is four times higher then the national standard, the?report said.
Lv Li, chef physician of?General?Hospital of Armed Police Forces' nutritional department, said that manganese is very harmful to the human body and may lead to Parkinson's disease.
Supor said on Oct 14, 2011 that its products are qualified according to tests carried out by a certain administration. However, it did not give specifications about the administration, or the testing details.
