NASDAQ, which saw a record number of Chinese companies listed on its market in 2009, is expecting more players from China this year, NASDAQ Executive Vice President Bruce Aust said on Friday.

"We are very dedicated to the Chinese market, we are excited," Aust told Xinhua in an interview.

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual meeting, Aust said NASDAQ had a total of 33 companies listed from China last year, including 25 from the Chinese mainland.

"I was very pleased there was a success there," he said.

Aust also expressed optimism about the outlook in 2010. "We have a very strong pipeline of Chinese companies coming to NASDAQ this year... The trend continues," he said.

Asked about the potential of Shanghai to become a world financial center, Aust gave a somewhat cautious answer: "Everyone want to become a financial center, and there is room for a lot of financial centers."

"So if Shanghai can do that, it will be great," he added.
