Yongning Bridge completes construction
The construction of Yongning Bridge, the largest multi-tower rigid suspension bridge in China designed for both rail and road traffic, was successfully completed in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Wednesday, according to its builder, Road & Bridge International Co Ltd.
The double-deck bridge spans a total length of 3.12 kilometers, with the main span crossing the river extending about 1.1 kilometers. The bridge integrates urban rail, roads and highways into a single structure.
Zhang Min, Road & Bridge International's chief engineer for this project, said the team established an integrated control system composed of 46 sets of equipment, creating a digital construction management model. This system has ensured the bridge's construction was both efficient and safe.
After the bridge is open to traffic, it will greatly enhance connectivity within Wenzhou's urban area, further integrating the city into the rapid economic growth of China's Yangtze River Delta region, said Zhang.
This big-ticket project will further enrich the infrastructure development of Zhejiang province and contribute to the development of its marine economy, he added.
Road & Bridge International, is a subsidiary of State-owned China Communications Construction Co. The company's business scope includes the construction of highways, bridges and municipal facilities, as well as engineering project inspection, design consulting and training services.
