A closing ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at the Tanzanian military's Comprehensive Training Center in the Bagamoyo district of Mapinga.

During the exercise, that opened on July 29, troops from the People's Liberation Army of China and the Tanzania People's Defence Forces focused on joint counter-terrorism capability and carried out reconnaissance, rescue, besieging and elimination drills, according to Xue Zhengyun, commander of the Chinese troops.

Xue said that through the joint operation, officers and soldiers from both sides verified and honed their capabilities in joint counter-terrorism maneuvers, and displayed good fighting skills and high morale.

He noted that the joint exercise showed the determination of China and Tanzania to safeguard regional security and stability.

The Chinese ground units involved in the exercise consist of troops from the 82nd Group Army, an information and communication regiment, and a military hospital. The troops specialize in fields including assault, reconnaissance, intelligence, special operations, information support and logistics.

Starting on Tuesday, the Chinese troops have begun returning to China by Chinese military aircraft and warships. The first group took two Y-20 strategic transport planes that took off on Tuesday morning from two airports in Tanzania, according to the Chinese force.
