International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music puts limelight on tradition
The International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music has become an important platform for young conductors of Chinese traditional music to showcase their talent and exchange their techniques, said organizers, judges, performers and audience of the event on Saturday.
After staging a round of magnificent performances at the final held in Hong Kong, the winners of the 4th International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music were officially announced on the day. Conductor Huang Wei-Cheih from Taiwan became the champion of this year's completion, followed by Feng Tianyou as the runner-up and Guo Pan as the second runner-up.
Huang Wei-Cheih was also voted as the Audience's Favourite and won the Media Choice Award chosen by professionals of the relevant industries. Cui Yuanyuan was awarded the Musicians' Choice voted by members' of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, while Guo Pan won the Best Interpretation of Works of Hong Kong.
