The Member Representative Symposium of the World Internet Conference (WIC) was held in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 7. Zhuang Rongwen, minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China and chair of the WIC, attended and addressed the symposium.

This year marks the 10th year of the WIC Wuzhen Summit, and the WIC has evolved from an international conference into an international organization, with the Wuzhen Summit serving as its annual meeting, Zhuang said. This transformation signifies a new phase in the WIC's development, with positive progress and significant results achieved in various areas, he added.

To harness the platform offered by the WIC and further deepen international exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace, Zhuang suggested upholding inclusivity and mutual benefit and sharing the fruits of development in the information age.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need to address global concerns, foster international consensus in cyberspace, and nurture development momentum to propel innovation and growth in the digital economy.

Zhuang also advocated for reinforcement of exchanges and collaboration to broaden the scope of international engagement.

Also present at the symposium were Wang Song, vice-minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China, and Francis Gurry, vice-chair of the WIC. The symposium was hosted by Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC.

During the event, John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, Chon Kil-nam, father of Internet of South Korea, and representatives from international organizations and industry institutions such as India's Confederation of Young Leaders and the British Standards Institution, as well as from Chinese and foreign companies, including Sugon, Qualcomm, Ant Group, Didi and Coca-Cola, shared their insights on the future development of the WIC Organization under the theme "Creating an Inclusive and Resilient Digital World Beneficial to All – Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace".

Nearly 80 member representatives from various fields, including international organizations, global leading internet enterprises, authoritative industry institutions, and industry organizations, were invited to participate in the symposium.
