Macao university hosts science lectures
The 2023 Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series was held at the Macau University of Science and Technology on Tuesday.
Themed "making a breakthrough in chip technology for the future", the lectures this year focused on the research of chip technology and industrial development. It featured keynote speeches — Semiconductor Chips and Applications: Endless Frontiers by Professor Chang Kai from the Institute of Semiconductors with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Carbon-Based Electronics in the Post-Moore Era by Professor Peng Lianmao, dean of the School of Electronics at Peking University.
Besides, as part of the Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series, academicians and experts also visited several schools in Macao, including Pui Ching Middle School Macau, Escola Tong Sin Tong, and Macau Baptist College, to share their personal stories of growth and achievements in the field of chip technology, and China's latest advancements and accomplishments in technological innovation and industrial development in this field.
This lecture series has been held in Hong Kong since 2003 and in Macao since 2004. This year's event was jointly organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau. The event attracted over 1,000 participants from the public, the scientific and technological communities, and representatives of youths in Macao. It was also streamed online for a wider audience.
