Camping popularity increases in China
Chinese tourism website Mafengwo recently unveiled a report about camping, revealing that 74 percent of the interviewed campers were from first-tier cities, and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou in Guangdong province and Chengdu in Sichuan province were the top four source cities of campers. Many liked to go cycling, do yoga and play Frisbee while camping.
About 87 percent of the subjects were those who were born in the 1990s and 2000s on a camping trip with friends, and the post-80s generation traveling with families.
Nearly 81 percent went camping for one to three days to embrace the nature, and some had a road trip to nearby cities.
From January to March, the search for "a camping road trip" on Mafengwo increased by 177 percent compared with the same period in 2020.
Some preferred unique campsites that allowed them to enjoy a starry sky at night and stay overnight at landscapes that resemble Mars. When they camped near a lake, they would paddleboard or do yoga.
