With tears and applause, White bids farewell
Although he wished he could have landed the last run, White said he was not upset about the result.
"Just missed the podium, I would have loved to walk out there with everyone, for one last time but you can't always get what you want, you get what you need," he said.
He said he was so proud of Hirano Ayumu of Japan, Scotty James of Australia, and Jan Scherrer of Switzerland, who won medals this time.
"To get this bonus round, to be here, see these young guys competing, it's been such an enjoyable process and truly thankful to be here and still competing and even getting fourth. I'm proud of it," he said.
"The future for me is so exciting, there's so much I want to do in my life," White added. "This is just the beginning for me".
White won the gold at the 2006 Turin Winter Games at the age of 20. Four years later, he defended his Olympic title at the Vancouver Games. After finishing fourth at Sochi 2014, White returned to his familiar position at Pyeongchang 2018, winning his third gold medal.
