EASIER SECURITY CHECKS

China's civil aviation authorities have introduced safer, more efficient and comfortable security check measures at major airports nationwide to enhance passenger services. The "easy security check" service has been put into operation at 40 major airports each with annual passenger throughput of more than 10 million starting from Jan 1, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The "easy security check" is available to those that have registered and made appointments on affiliated platforms 48 hours before check-in.

5M VISITORS ON HOLIDAY

Shanghai received more than 5.17 million visitors during the three-day 2022 New Year holiday, local authorities said on Monday. Tourism spending from Saturday to Monday reached around 12.6 billion yuan ($2 billion), according to the Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism. The Bund, Yuyuan Garden and the Lujiazui area, as well as the city's historical sites and Huangpu riverside areas, all saw strong growth in tourist numbers.

CARTOON TIGER'S CHARM

In December, Shenyang Kerry Parkside, a commercial complex in the capital city of Northeast China's Liaoning province, held a special exhibition featuring the cuddly cartoon character Panghu-or Plump Tiger, inspired by Siberian tigers in Northeast China. The exhibition also featured artificial floral displays, as well as statues of several chubby tiger cubs that Panghu met in a snowy field. The adorable images drew flocks of people to take photos with them.

InterContinental Qingdao in East China's Shandong province is launching Lunar New Year's Eve takeout packages, priced at 1,288 yuan ($203) for four people and 3,188 yuan for eight people. Using fresh ingredients, the festive dishes will be crafted by a professional culinary team at the hotel, who served the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2018 in Qingdao. The takeouts will be packaged in special boxes for delivery services. In addition to the set menus, the hotel said it will also offer festival deliveries to order.
