David Mathews: US-China should be competitive not combative
"Two countries (US and China) will be competitive", said David Mathews, president of the Kettering Foundation and former US Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, and things should be done to "make sure that competitiveness does not become combative".
As president of the Kettering Foundation, Mathews also noted the foundation's exchanges with China, which date back nearly 50 years, are one of the longest continuous non-governmental exchanges between the US and China, during an online conference on the Sino-US Sustained Dialogue held by the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Science and the Kettering Foundation on Jan 27.
