Hong Kong's Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said on Monday the city's ordinance of election will not recognize nor approve the opposition camp's "primaries" held Saturday and Sunday for the 2020 Legislative Council election.
Various government departments have received complaints claiming that the "primaries" may have allegedly interfered with and manipulated the upcoming election, according to a government statement. The SAR government is conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter and will seek legal advice if necessary, a bureau representative said.
