Ma Long announces birth of son
Chinese table tennis world champion Ma Long announced Sunday his son has been born.
The 29-year-old posted a picture of two adult hands holding a smaller one via Weibo, China's Twitter-like microblogging site, with a simple caption: "Hello, brother!"
Ma tied the knot with his girlfriend of eight years earlier this year. His wife gave birth on Friday.
Ma defended his title at the World Table Tennis Championships in June and won the men's table tennis singles at the 13th Chinese National Games in September.
After a clean sweep victory in the men's singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Ma became the fifth player to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup. He joined Sweden's Jan-Ove Waldner and China's Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui and Zhang Jike in this achievement. Additionally, he became the first male player — and second overall —to have won every singles title in table tennis.
